The Process Improvement Engineer will seek to improve our operational effectiveness (Cost, Productivity, Quality and Safety) by applying engineering and analytical skills as well as lean manufacturing concepts (“Six Sigma” tools) to plant manufacturing processes. This is position that works closely with plant management and our production employees to not only identify opportunities for process improvement but is accountable to assist in implementing required solutions as well. This is not intended to be an in-office position only.


  • Use Lean Manufacturing concepts (including “Six Sigma” Principles) to analyze our current manufacturing processes – to identify and then assist Plant Management to implement improvements to improve overall production rates, machine efficiencies, yields and costs
  • Use extensive Six Sigma experience and understanding of company’s strategy to select Six Sigma projects, instructing cross-functional teams in adapting to and understanding improvement processes
  • Strong change advocate who consistently pursues organizational change
  • Facilitating Kaizen and Rapid Improvement Events (RIEs)
  • Interpret customer needs and requirements, translate concepts into practice, identify process improvement opportunities, and quantify results and trends
  • Implement 5S/Visual Factory principles on the plant floor to improve overall organization and plant efficiency/effectiveness.\
  • Measure Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) and communicate results to Plant Management at weekly production meetings and to Senior Management monthly
  • Develop, implement and track Action Plans for continuous OEE improvement initiatives
  • Communicating to employees at all levels of the organization and able to speak the language of front-line workers, as well as C-level executives
  • Measure and analyze process shrink to identify and implement solutions for material loss reduction
  • Work with Cost Accounting to document cost improvements
  • Support Corporate Sustainability Initiative by measuring the plant’s environmental impact (e.g. energy consumption, waste streams, water usage, etc.)
  • Develop potential improvement projects for management approval
  • Working with Plant Management, manage the plant’s capital budget, including the design, specification, bidding and installation of new plant machinery and equipment


  • 12+ years of experience as an engineer working in food/beverage manufacturing (cost, productivity, quality, and safety)
  • Practical application of knowledge of engineering and analytical skills
  • Lean manufacturing concepts (six sigma)
  • Experience in a GFSI Certified Plant
